- DiP pixelware - A Texture A Day
- Thomas Lindtrom created DiP, a site reveling in Digital Pictures. You'll never find more than 10 textures in any section of this archive, old ones are constantly retired. Check out the rest of this site!
- Dr. Bob's backgrounds
- Dr. Bob from sisna has posted these pieces (used from their own site). Not a very large archive, but choice.
- Dr. Zeus' Textures
- Dr Zeus works from original photos and uses the smudge tool to get some spectacular effects. Very lush, tho' not well suited for text.
- H's background archive
- Heather has some nice little backgrounds, all very tiny for you low-bandwidth worriers. Thanks Heather!
- Iain's Textures on the WWW
- Iain's got some nifty images here, but they're all a bit large for my taste (10k+). He asks that you link back to him if you use his images.
- Jay's Background Index
- Jay's backgrounds seem OK, but his page is really hard too read. Dark blue type on a black bacgground. Ugh!
- Jay's Background Patterns
- Jay Boersma has a huge collection of free graphics at his site. Make sure to check out he whole place, you might find something interesting.
- Jay's WebPaper
- He's also got this simple little simulation of real paper at WebPaper. Very nice.
- Julianne's Background Textures
- Julianne's got nearly 500 textures here, broken down by color scheme. All low-bandwidth, very subtle (good for text). Julianne would prefer you not pretend you made 'em up your self.
- JZ Presents: Disturbing Patterns
- Oh, this is great! Jeff Z (creator of the Batman Forever pages) has some truly non-pc images here. Check 'em out.
- MacDaddy's Background Sampler
- MacDaddy has around 80 BKGs, some duplicated elsewhere. All broken down into little categories. He's also got a little tutorial on when and how to use 'em.
- Nabil's Background collection
- Now this is one *huge* archive.Images from all over, I recognized some from other sites, even some from Apples Sys7.5 Desktops collection! ~warning~ It'll take quite some time to view this collection in it's entirety.
- Over the Rainbow
- Gini Schmitz brings us "Over the Rainbow", a delightful collection of textures, background tiles, and clip-art for your web pages. Definitely one of the more colorful sites on the web.
- Pattern Land!
- Ryan Scott from NetCreations put this one up. A nice site to look at, even if you don't take any backgrounds.
- Realm Graphics: Backgrounds
- Realm Graphics is one of the largest Background repositories on the net. Make sure to check out the other collections of WWW images available.
- Ron's Browser Backgrounds Page!
- Ron's got about 24 backgrounds here, no mention if they're for grabs or not, but no mention they're not. Viewer discretion advised. They tile reasonably well, but not perfectly.

- My favorite kind of site. Not that many pieces, but all images used by these folks for their *own* site.
- WebGround - Free background textures
- What it says. 420 textures, in fact. One of the more beautifully laid out pages for this that I've seen. Fully NS 2.0 enhanced for a *huge* monitor, so you'll be scrolling back & forth, kinda' annoying, but worth it.
